Domaine Julien Pilon – Marsanne/Roussanne “Le Bruit des Vagues” (2018)

A harmonious blend of Marsanne and Rousanne. A real treat with a fish dish or cured meats with cheese.

Tasting Notes

Known as the “globe trotter” of the Rhone Valley, Domaine Julien Pilon does not disappoint. The young Julien Pilon is located on the right bank of the Rhône Valley, on the Condrieu terroir. Pilon produces dry white wines, vinified and aged in oak with brio, with grape varieties such as Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier. On the most prestigious appellations of the Rhône Valley, Pilon offers fine, fresh and well kept wines. It is on the slopes of Condrieu, which are sometimes difficult to access, that the Rhône produces wines in the Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray, Hermitage, Cornas and Côte-Rôtie appellations.

A beautiful harmony between the two grape varieties, Rousanne and Marsanne. Both lending themselves for freshness, acidity, and mineral driven wine. A golden hue accompanies the crispy acidity. A bold blend with a fuller body thanks to the prominent oak, both on the nose and palate. It does take time to open up. Fruit such as citrus and apple play on both the nose and palate. Great minerality to it without chalkiness. Easy drinking and a wonderful summer sipper. Overall, a smooth wine that pairs well with pork, fish and poultry.
