Pirramimma Wines – Shiraz (2017)

A big and bold Shiraz straight out of Australia. Everything you would expect and a little more.

Tasting Notes

In today’s climate of global corporate wine ownership and multi beverage models, Pirramimma has stood the test of time from 1892 to today. Still family owned and run, and largely from the same property founded by AC Johnston over a century ago comprising over 100 hectares of prime McLaren Vale fruit, Pirramimma and the Johnston family are synonymous with McLaren Vale. Four generations of Johnston’s have called McLaren Vale home, making Pirramimma one of Australia’s oldest wineries to still be in family control.

Get ready to kick it up a notch with this bold Shiraz hailing from McLaren Vale. Rich and robust, from the hue to introductory aromas — you just know this is going to be a hot one. Black current, chocolate and cinnamon on the nose. Smooth tannins accompanying notes of dark fruits such as berries, coffee, herbs and vanilla. A bit peppery both on the nose and palate with a medium finish. Higher alcohol making it a bit more toasty. Everything you would imagine with an Australian Shiraz of this age. Pair with red meat dishes.
