Mitolo Winery – 7th Son Grenache Shiraz (2014)

A bold blend that has savoury complexity and no trouble showing its softer side of the years.

Tasting Notes

Arriving in Australia in the 1950’s, the Mitolo family brought their viticulturist ancestry with them. The family strived to become successful market gardeners and after many years of farming potatoes, Frank Mitolo began winemaking for family and friends. The first Mitolo wine was released in 2000 and they have followed their six word business plan. Individuality, integrity, quality, purity, elegance and power. The Mitolo Italian heritage runs strongly through their portfolio, thanks to the Italian varieties and techniques used.

A unique blend of 48% Grenache, 45% Shiraz and 7% Sagrantino. This powerhouse blend creates a wonderful tannic grip on the palate with a beautiful medium intensity ruby colour. Aromas of ripe red cherry, plum, sage, black pepper and dark chocolate greet you on the nose. Followed by ripe tannins, medium plus acidity and earthiness on the palate. Notes of cherry, blackberry, vanilla and pepper. A medium finish that is dry on the palate. Overall, a big and bold wine that has transitioned, over the years, to a softer and easy drinking wine that pairs well with Angus steak or lamb.
