Chateau de Pierreux – Brouilly (2019)

A great Gamay to have on hand when dabbling in charcuterie and catching up with friends.

Tasting Notes

Located in Brouilly wine region, this winery is a part of the Boisset Collection. Where the hillsides and Pierreux come together, where the young plantations sit alongside the older vines, where the grass has, for decades, preserved that fine layer of precious soil over the pink granite – this is the heart of Pierreux wine country. The estate produces Brouilly for laying down, wines which stand out due to their rich tannins and lovely smoothness. The chateau makes two cuvées, the Brouilly Réserve du Château de Pierreux, and the Brouilly Grande Réserve, which is fuller.

A superb find for the price. A great example to have on hand for wine nights. Light bodied and very earthy on both the nose and palate. This wine offers cigar box, red fruit notes, violets and forest floor on the nose. A palate full of cherry, cranberry, spiced pepper and clove. A mellow medium finish with earthy and fruity notes lingering on the palate. Light and easy to drink, many will find this Gamay average. Perfect for casual drinking with charcuterie and friends.
